Inspiration for the new year

Love this poster that Katie from Katie's Adventures sent over today. Might need to hang this up to remind me of my New Year Resolutions!

So sweet....

I love these YSL vintage clip on earings I found on ESTY today. They remind me of my grandma Ruth. She never pierced her ears, but always had a sweet pair of clip on's on. I love how these ones look like little old fashioned wrapped candies.

My wish list from ESTY is growing rather quickly....

Daily Routine

Ignore the title.

Listeing to Daily Routine from Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavillion album. After overdosing on this album all spring- I put it away for a while. Now pulling it back into my mix after seeing it pop up on everyone's "best of 2009" lists.

What I really wanted to say was......

Sweet Tree. I love this and wished mine looked like it.

Its' a good dae for a sundae

I'm craving one of these right now......

Where I want to be....

Its sooo cold outside!

Between my Sp11 line planning and the crazy holiday season.....I'm really wishing I was in this beautiful picture instead!

Found on elements of style

Mmmmmmerry Christmas!

Oh the devils we are! My brother's and I were left to create and send a Christmas card of our own this year....after our parents became fed up with my vanity (not wanting to take a picture on a day I wasnt feeling up to par!)

So we did. Only we decided that if it was up to us- it was going to have some humor attached.

Here is what we came up with......

Hopefully they don't return all of our presents :-)

Sonia Rykiel for H&M

I FINALLY made it out to H&M this weekend to see Sonia Rykiel for H & M myself. I'm sad to say, the lackluster reviews I have been reading did accurately portray the collection. Sonia- it's not you... Where are the adorable berets? I'm only seeing grossly oversized headbands with floppy blows. Where are the lux fabrics and beautiful colors? Queen of Knits, where are the knits? I know I know, its lingerie- but still!

I will say- the slip in Sonia's signature color stripes is a great addition to any wadrobe that can't quite fit the designer's line into their budget. I purchased one and love the way it peeks out from under my black fuzzy sweater dress.

If you're looking for a statement piece to wear out however, don't bother.

And for some reason, the adorable ballet flat slippers DO NOT fit the foot. Really wishing this came out a little better.

On a side note, and not to be more of a "debbie downer"- but the sales associate was so excited that I "actually purchased" a Sonia Rykiel that he just about screamed in delight. He gave me a choice of bags (which by the way, might be the best part of the line! so beautiful) and also threw in a magazine.

Ahh wishing there were more to purchase. Maybe next season?

The Fantastic Mr. Fox

This weekend I was lucky enough to host my youngest brother Nick on Saturday night. After he spent some time at "The 409" with our brother Anthony and his college roommates, he came and stayed with me. We loaded up on candy, pop corn, and soda...and went to see The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Great movie.

Recommended by Nick and me.

The movie is based on the book, but with several modern twists. Mr. Fox is narrated by George Clooney, which makes him very charming and mischievous. Five stars.

XX/FF

The XX and Friendly Fires performed at The Paradise Rock Club in Allston this past Friday. Review: awesome

The XX was dead on. A friend described their performace as: "If you could hear a massage, it would sound like this"

Even the pictures from my phone show how starkly different these two bands and their performance styles are.
Great contrast of fashion as well. check out the Vintage ladies top...

Remember what your knees are for

Finally back on the wagon after a multi-month hiatus. Totally skipped out on posting all of the interesting things coming in for fall- but at least we've got winter. Also have some lovely things to show off from my recent trip to Europe (Paris, Marsille, Florence, Berlin & Cologne).

Drool worthy for me this season are over-the knee boots. I saw so many beautiful designs in Europe, particularly Italy, that I wished could fit in my suitcase! After much personal debate over the style that best suited me, I ended on a pair of distressed brown leather, low heel, rounded toe. These can be worn up over the knee or folded down, but mine will absolutely be worn up!

I'm packing up again for Chicago this weekend- Lollapalooza at Grant Park. Then its off to Europe for Italy, France, and Germany! I promise to post along the way :-)

Overdue

Last month I was fortunate enough to get down to Tennessee for Bonnaroo 2009. Amazing line up...amazing show...all around amazing experience. More descriptors to follow. For now- just pics :-)

To Freedom, and the people who fight to save it...

I love the way this image came out. The subject is my best friend, the setting is her front porch. We sat on Sunday afternoon, recounting the amazing weekend, and what it's memories mean to us.

High Wire Dancer

The sweet sounds of Antje Duvekot have been softly lulling me through this sunny Friday. A Boston resident, the singer-songwriter is one to keep an eye on. Her second album The Near Demise of the High Wire Dancer which released in March of this year delivers earthy sweet folk weaved with storytelling qualities that leave you soaked in sound.

Favorite song: Dandelion

Touring now in Colorado, crossing my fingers she makes it back to the East coast soon!
